How to Set Up the Chrome Extension
Extend Locky to your computer by blocking distracting websites in Chrome until your habits are complete. This guide walks you through installation, sign-in, and configuration.
How it works
The Locky Chrome extension syncs with your Locky account in real time. When you have incomplete habits, any website on your block list is redirected to a "Site Blocked" page. Once you complete all due habits in the Locky mobile app, the extension detects the change instantly and unblocks your sites — no refresh needed.
Your laptop was the loophole. Locky closes it.
Step 1: Install the extension
- Visit the Locky page on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome and confirm when prompted.
- Pin the extension: click the puzzle-piece icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click the pin next to Locky so it's always visible.
Step 2: Sign in
Click the Locky icon in your toolbar to open the popup, then sign in. You must use the same account you use in the Locky mobile app so your habits and unlock status sync across devices.
Locky supports signing in with Google, Apple, or email and password — whichever method you used when you created your Locky account.
If you signed up with Apple on your iPhone, choose "Sign in with Apple" in the extension. The accounts are linked by your email address.
Step 3: Add blocked sites
There are two ways to add sites to your block list:
- From the popup: Navigate to a distracting site, click the Locky icon, and tap "Block this site" to instantly add the current domain.
- From the dashboard: Click "View Today's Tasks" in the popup to open the full dashboard, then go to the Blocked Sites panel to add or remove sites manually.
You can block sites in several ways:
- Entire domain — e.g.
reddit.comblocks all of Reddit - Specific path — e.g.
reddit.com/r/popularblocks only that subreddit - Wildcard path — e.g.
youtube.com/shorts/*blocks all YouTube Shorts
Blocked sites are separate from blocked apps. The Chrome extension manages websites; the iOS app manages phone apps. They share the same account and habits, but each block list is configured independently.
The blocked page
When you try to visit a blocked site, Chrome redirects you to a lock screen showing your current habit status — which habits are done and which are still pending. This updates live, so the moment you finish your habits on your phone, the blocked page automatically redirects you to the site you wanted.
Badge indicator
The extension icon shows a ! badge when you have incomplete habits and sites are being blocked. Once all habits are done, the badge disappears and you can browse freely.
Day reset
Just like the mobile app, the Chrome extension's day resets at 3:00 AM local time, not midnight. Late-night habit completions still count for the current day.
